Study Description:
This study is testing the safety and effectiveness of an investigational injectable medication as an add-on treatment for COPD. If eligible, participants will have a 2 out of 3 chance of receiving the investigational drug compared to placebo. Participants will receive two injections under the skin every 4 weeks over 3 study visits. Neither the study doctor or the participants will know who is getting the investigational injectable medication or the placebo. Additional procedures include lung function assessments, laboratory tests, ECGs, nasal swab, questionnaires, and vital signs. Total participation will last approximately 7 and a half months with 10-11 doctor’s visits throughout the study. Eligibility for the study will be determined by the study doctor following one or more in-person screening visits to the clinic. Trial-related procedures and study medication will be provided at no cost.
Qualifications/DQs:
-Diagnosed with COPD 12 months +
- Only for former smokers with a smoking history of 10 pack-years. Have not smoked at least 3 months (largest DQ)
- Cannot be diagnosed with Asthma
- Must use at least one (daily) inhaler
- Cannot use oxygen therapy for more than 12 hours/day
