Liquid glass is soluble in water, due to hydrolysis, this solution has an alkaline reaction. The density and viscosity of liquid glass solutions depend on the concentration of the solution, temperature and the ratio of silicic acid to alkali. There are a lot of applications of liquid glass. In particular, it is used for impregnating fabrics, preparing refractory paints and coatings on wood (flame retardants), strengthening weak soils, as an adhesive for gluing cellulose materials, in the production of electrodes.
